How to make a Potato Trap

  • First get a nice big potato. ( Ask your teacher or your mum or dad first! )
  • Carefully cut the potato in half.
  • Scoop the inside of the potato out with a spoon.

  • Close the potato. You should now have one hollow potato!
  • Make an entry hole in the side of your potato so your mini-beasts can find their way inside!

What do we do next!

  • Place your potato trap half buried somewhere in the school grounds.
  • Your potato trap when half buried should look something like this.

  • Leave it for three days.
  • Open the trap and see what you have caught.
  • E- mail us and tell us what you have caught. (Please please include photographs or drawings of what you have caught as attachments if possible.)       enlli@santsior.conwy.sch.uk
  • IMPORTANT: Don't forget to release everything you have caught afterwards.
